Liberty Towers Residents Association
All individuals residing at Liberty Towers automatically become members of the Residents Association upon moving into the facility. The purpose of the Association is to provide for expanded opportunities for participation by residents in the management of Liberty Towers' affairs and in programs designed to improve community life. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month in the evening. The Association plans
Sussex County Nutrition Program
Residents, guests, and visitors can participate in the Nutrition Program on-site on Mondays through Fridays. Lunches must be ordered at least one day in advance before 11am for the following day. Call 973-579-2120 for more information.
Liberty Towers Gardening Club
Each year, volunteers have helped staff and residents by planting, weeding, and maintaining our flower and vegetable gardens for the benefit of all the residents at Liberty Towers.
The Salon at Liberty Towers
Come to Liberty Towers for a wash and set, permanent, color, or cut. Residents have the opportunity to be groomed in the comfort of their own building. Prices for each service vary, but are all reasonable. Call 973-896-0424 for an appointment. Gift Certificates are available.
Laundry Room
Open 24-hours a day, residents may wash clothing on site for a nominal charge.
United States Postal Service
Each resident is assigned a post box available on the first floor of the building. Residents may also mail envelopes on-site and receive packages.
Project Health Bones
Project Healthy Bones is a 24-week exercise and osteoporosis education curriculum held at Liberty Towers every Thursday. It uses safe and proper exercise training principles based upon the latest scientific research to lead older women and men in group exercise, including strength training with weights and expanded balance exercises. Osteoporosis education in the area of dietary calcium, calcium supplementation, osteoporosis prevention, and treatment strategies as well as home safety and falls prevention are part of the program.
On-Site Classes
Residents are invited to participate in a variety of free classes and informational sessions held on site. Hands-on classes include watercolor, ceramics, and chair exercise programs and are coordinated by the Sussex County Nutrition Program. Other workshops focus on health and safety, legal and insurance issues, and more.

Cards & Games
A number of puzzles, games, and cards have been provided by Liberty Towers for resident enjoyment. Many gather each night to play. There is also a pool table, ping pong table, and darts!
Movie Nights
Residents enjoy monthly movie presentations, featuring many of the latest releases. Popcorn and pizza are available for a small donation.
Dinners
A variety of dinners are hosted by Liberty Towers for its residents and in cooperation with the Residents Association. Residents can enjoy fish & chips, an Italian Buffet, picnic and other treats throughout each year.

Monthly Blood Pressure Screening & Educational Program
Once a month, a Sussex County Public Health Nurse visits our site to provide free blood pressure screening and workshops on a variety of topics of interest to our residents.
Podiatrist
Dr. Craig Wexler, Podiatrist, of Wexler Foot Center performs routine exams and nail care services on site. His office is a Medicare provider and accepts most major insurance plans.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (V.I.T.A.)
Trained volunteers assist residents and low income individuals with tax preparation each year and are on site at Liberty Towers by appointment. To take advantage of this opportunity, please contact the Sussex County Department of Human Services, Senior Services Division at (973) 579-0555
H.E.L.P. (Handicapped and Elderly Locater Program)
The HELP program is designed to assist the police in locating an individual with special needs who, if faced with a sudden medical or other emergency may not have the ability to communicate their identity or medical condition. The program is facilitated by a bracelet, similar to a medical alert tag, that contains an identification number and the name and telephone number of the Newton Police Department. The Police Department will maintain identification and other special needs information associated with the identification number assigned those that voluntarily participate in the program. The information will be available to police officers 24 hours-a-day and will be held in strict confidence. This program is offered to residents of Newton by the Town of Newton Police Department and in partnership with the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce.
On site flu/ pneumococcal clinic
The Sussex County Office of Public Health Nursing visits Liberty Towers annually to offer residents access to necessary vaccines. There is no charge for those 65 and older, with a Medicare card. Those under 65 are requested to pay a nominal fee.
